Five Key Ways to Find Happiness Daily

Five Ways to Find a Daily Dose of Happiness

So often daily life can get hectic, rushed, and it can be easy to lose the ability to remain happy with where we are now. Sometimes we also get focused on where we want to be, or what we're trying to accomplish, and we can tie happiness to those goals.

It is important to find daily happiness, even if it is the tiniest little thing. When you begin to practice this daily, you will feel more joyful regularly and you will find happiness has infused your life becoming second nature. Starting with these five small things, you can be on your way to feeling happiness everyday.

Gratitude: taking pause in the morning, or before bed at night to write or think of 3-5 things you are grateful for. It can be as simple as this:

  • I am grateful for a nice warm cup of coffee
  • I am grateful for the sun shinning through the clouds
  • I am grateful for hearing the birds chirping outside
  • I am grateful for having time with my Mom this week
  • I am grateful for having a few minutes of quite this evening
With Gratitude you can take it as big or little as you want. You can vary the kinds of things you are grateful for into different categories. Make it your own! You can even pause in a moment of stress and think of things that are going well and be grateful for those.

Fresh Air:  Getting outside can help raise your vibration, your mood, and your vitamin D levels!  Taking even a few minutes, while walking to your car, waking into work, or the store, or just sipping your tea or coffee outside, and take a few deep breaths in, and exhale letting all your stress or worries leave you. Being out in nature in any way can help connect you more with elevated levels of happiness. If you really want to challenge yourself more, start taking daily walks outside even.

Laughter: Have you ever heard a joke, watched a funny movie, saw something else that you just couldn't help laughing about? Bringing more laughter into your life daily will create an instant boost of happiness. You can read funny short stories or books, listen to comedians, or joke around with your family, friends or co-workers.

Singing & Dancing: Have you ever heard a favorite song on the radio and just started singing and dancing to it? Didn't it automatically lift your mood? When you incorporate some singing & dancing into your life more often, you will find more joy. At the end of a long work day, turn on the radio, or play your favorite music and just sing and dance while you are preparing dinner, or cleaning up the dishes. It will bring your mood up & make your meal time or chores more joyous.

Smile: It's hard to feel bad when you are smiling. Smiling also lifts the spirits of others around you which increases your happiness and joy when others are smiling back at you. Smiling is easier and requires less use of your facial muscles than frowning. So turn your frown upside down!

Trying out any one of these fun activities can elevate your happiness quotient. Practicing them all regularly can not only make you feel more joy and happiness in your life, but elevate the happiness of those around. Gone will be the grumpy rushed days where you feel everything is pulling you down. With your new normal you will find the light in everything around you.

No matter what goes on around us, how stressful, heartbreaking, challenging, or disappointing, the one thing we have control of is how we respond to it. By choosing to be happy now, we can increase our resilience to any negative stressful event. You will find over time, when you increase your ability to be happy daily, that when an event big or small that would have normally thrown you into being irritated, sad, angry, or frustrated, you will now bounce back from it getting back to your joy and happiness faster.

Are there things you do that I didn't mention that helps you find your happy place?  Please share in the comments! I would love to hear your ideas.

Enjoy your happiness in everything you see and do!
