Renewal of Spring and Resilience

Renewal and Resilience: How to Spring Back

We have found ourselves in a very strange and unnerving circumstance. This Pandemic has managed to slow everything almost everywhere to nearly a standstill, with no known date of reprieve. Luckily enough in most of the United States Spring has arrived, or is arriving. So, the weather is warming, and flowers and trees are beginning to bloom. This leaves me with much refreshment! To hear all the birds and other wildlife is like music. Seeing the sun come out, warming up the earth and bringing life to the landscape gives me hope.

While we are maintaining our Social Distance we can still enjoy the fresh air and benefits of this spring renewal. Take time to go for walks outside, spend time in your yard if you have one, consider planting a small manageable garden. A garden can provide a great variety of food sources that will not require you to frequent the store every 3-4 days. Finding your favorite fruits or vegetables that can grow in your region and planting some of them can have many benefits.

Working outside in a garden brings many people hours of enjoyment, some even say it is meditative. Many people love getting their hands in the soil planting, weeding, etc. This is also a fantastic opportunity to introduce children to gardening, and teaching them where food really comes from! Kids will really dig watching seeds get planted and grow into these full grown plant foods that they can later cut, cook, eat, and enjoy!

Through gardening you are literally reaping what you sow.

Many people are also having a hard time with the fact that so many things going on right now are completely out of our individual control. This can create a different level of stress and anxiety. The isolation along with the stress and anxiety can create a feeling of decreased hope, increased feelings of being alone for many. There are other methods to help combat this. Placing the power of controlling how you feel in your own hands, when you cannot control the things going on around us in the World right now.

One tool that I find very helpful in a range of situations is Tapping, or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). This is a method of tapping on the meridians of your body (energy centers) while saying statements or phrases based on what you are feeling, why you are feeling it, and giving yourself compete love and acceptance in feeling this way. Tapping has become very effective in treating those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It has also been effective in treating depression, pain, anxiety, frustration, sleep problems, weight loss, and many other conditions. While there are certified practitioners that are available to work with, this is also something you can do on your own. Two very prominent teachers of Tapping and EFT are Nick Ortner and Dawson Church. They have worked with thousands of people and have a lot of free resources available for you to learn this method on your own. They also share scientific supported data of the effectiveness of using Tapping.

Here you can find a demonstration of a Tapping Exercise:

Here is a video from Dawson Church explaining how increased levels of immunoglobulins can fight against the Covid19 virus and how EFT increased the levels of immunoglobulins in a study:

I hope you enjoy these resources and find them helpful. It is most important right now to keep and improve your body's own immune ability. There are many other ways nutritionally to improve your immune system, but most important is your Mindset. Having a positive outlook, having fun, and sleeping well also play into keeping your immune system strong.

I truly enjoy sharing with you this information. I do hope that next months blog will occur when we  can all begin to return to normal. Meanwhile, enjoy the simpler schedules we are having, keep connected to your loved ones, and find some fun in each and every day! Please share any helpful information or insights you have that help you to feel good during this time.
